Default Barrie, Ontario Zombie Walk

Hey Hey Fellow Gore Whores come join us for Barrie's first zombie walk! All ages are welcome!

To participate please bring a non perishable food item and/or cash donation to donate to the Grocery Assistance Program of the Elizabeth Fry Society of Simcoe County.

We will meet at the gazebo besides Macs on Dunlop (& Mulcaster) at 4:30pm and start our walk at 5pm. Between 4:30 and 5 we can get acquainted and hold a photo shoot with any photographers who wish to be involved. We will walk down Dunlop St to Maple and then make our way down Lakeshore to Tiffin, then turn around and take the same route back to the gazebo.

Also, for the 19+ zombies out there, there will be a Night of The Living Dead Party at the Foxx Lounge afterwards.

They say if a Zombie outbreak occurs rule #1 is to prepare for the worst and do whatever it takes to survive. We say if you can’t beat them (which if it’s a group of zombies, you probably won’t be able to) JOIN ‘EM! Join us for Barrie’s first ever Annual Zombie Walk, October 30th, 2009 to kick off the Halloween season. Come dressed in anything you’d be caught dead in, blood and guts are encouraged.

A contest for the most compelling living dead will be held in six different age and gender categories: male 13 and under, female 13 and under, male 14-18, female 14-18, male 19+ and female 19+. Prizes will be awarded some of our sponsors. Our sponsors include: Barrie Paintball, Tsinonis Photography, Barrie Gift Basket Express, Bayfield 7 Cinemas, Horror in the Hammer (Hamilton Zombie Walk), Bayfield Mall, Extreme Tanning Center, Kempview Bowl and Snow Creations Photography. Contest will be held at the end of the walk at Stix Sports Grill and judged by IMAGOzine, known for turning fantasies to reality through its magazine, shows and boutique. Their headquarters, located at 25 Dunlop St (second floor), offer a truly unique collection of Zombie and Halloween costumes.

Our Zombie's aged 19+ can enter a ballot to win 1 of 4 pairs of tickets to Necrotica Halloween Zombie Ball hosted by Subspace in Toronto the following night, as well as prizes from RocknPole, Dead Starlets and Skinner Ink! Winners will be announced at The Official 19+ After Party - 'Night of the Living Dead' at the Foxx Lounge, located right next to the Roxx. Door for this even will open at 9:30pm.

Participants are to bring a non-perishable food item (no brains allowed) and/or cash donation to donate to the Grocery Assistance Program of the Elizabeth Fry Society of Simcoe County.

We will be meeting at Stix Sports Grill at 5:30pm to collect donations, take attendance and get acquainted. The Zombie hoard will begin the walk at 6pm starting down Dunlop Street and commencing the mayhem at Memorial Square, stopping for some pictures. The walk will continue down Dunlop St, with a left turn on Maple. Next, the hoard will keep on moving with a left on Lakeshore and then another stop at Heritage Park for some more pictures and to roam the area. To finish the walk, the group will go back up to Dunlop and end back at Stix Sports Grill where the winners will be announced for the costume contest. Stix Sports Grill is located at 137 Dunlop Street East, on the corner of Dunlop and Mulcastor.

We held a contest for a design for the Zombie Walk posters and logo that was won by Snow Creations Photography and Starr Bathory Designs. There will be a group of various local photographers and videographers who will be capturing the event while the walk is happening. We also have many contributors helping out to make this first annual event possible including: UpFront Media, Entity Canada, Stix Sports Grill, IMAGOzine and of course our group of photographers.

If you need any further information about the event please feel free to contact the event founder, Taylor Marie of Entity Canada or myself, Kayla Clark.
