Less than a week away, corpses. We got some great things in the works!
#1 Make sure you check out the Columbus Dispatch this week. I'm not sure what day yet, but they're going to run a preview of the walk and there should be some great pictures of me getting done up by Nio and Vanessa at Sin City Hair.
#2 Speaking of make-up, be sure to check out the other blog with the gory details on the special effects makeovers at Sin City. They've really gone out of their way to help out those who can't do the make-up themselves and they are VERY good at what they do.
#3 I have the path figured out! FINALLY! The whole thing will be about 4 miles. We're starting out at Goodale Park and heading south to the Hyatt at High and Nationwide. The MarCon convention is going on there and they have asked us to be a part of it. Once we make our way through the show, we will head back north on High street and continue all the way to Chittenden to greet our friends at Sin City. Then, we'll cross the street and head back south until we get back to Goodale. I would like everyone to get out there to all of the local businesses along that route and invite them to participate and interact with us as we walk by.
#4 We may have visitors when we get back to Goodale. Hm hm hm... A zombie's worst nightmare... Hm hm hm... The survivors... Please play along and play nice. Just play. Remember that they are a very important element to any good zombie outbreak scenario. Also, remember that this is all about theatrics. I recommend a ton of video! Maybe someone could set up mock news coverage or something. It will be amazing.
#5 BRING AN UMBRELLA! The 10-day forecast is calling for rain, but I've never been one to let a little precipitation ruin a good time. Besides, some of the best zombie flicks ever have been wet ones.
#6 We're having a food drive to support the Mid-Ohio Food Bank! I'll have a small group of people stationed at the park throughout the duration of the walk to collect canned goods and other non-parishible items. I'll post another blog about that.
#7 Got some GREAT surprises for us after the walk including a trip (you must provide your own transportation) to The House of Nightmares! The owner has agreed to give us a behind the scenes tour of the haunted house and there will be a contact list there for anyone who may be interested in putting their talents to good use this Halloween season. Then, those of us who are 21 and older will be off for some adult beverages! Probably too late in the game to work out any kind of 'zombie party', but I figured we could crawl from bar to bar and as long as one of them has karaoke and PBR, I'll be happy. Maybe something good will be playing at Studio 35 that night. Whether we stay banded into the late late evening, or we split up and go our separate directions, wherever you go or whatever you do, leave the make-up on, Jack! You'll get some interesting looks at the very least.
That's about it, for now. Keep hittin' me with the questions and I'll toss out the answers the best I can. Hope to see you all there!
