1. The more undead the better, of course!
2. Maybe some theatre energy games with a zombie twist and a '1, 2, 3 BRAINS!' start. We seemed to start lethargicly, even for zombies ;p
3. We need a big crowd around the victims! It's hard to zombiefy in plain sight ;) Enough people to completely hide the victim from sight so that you see them normal / attacked/ rising from the dead.
4. Victims could be as far along the route as the McDonalds, give them some time to settle in and look normal (and give them a bigger headstart so they can get there).
5. Keep up the moaning as the day wears on! Middle to end we were becoming mute zombies. Same with the lurching gait.
6. BRRAAAIIINNS!
7. Some big zombie reactions to getting attacked by the zombie hunter....while the zombies don't die, they can still stumble back.
8. Zombie hunters could be on the other side of the road (or keeping a block ahead of the swarm) so they're more obviously seperate from the zombies. Maybe run around warning people that there are zombies, asking them if they're prepared, promising to defend them, etc (I'm thinking about taking this role next year ;) )
.... add your own!

9. It would be great for next year to strategically pick a saturday that has other things going on in Richmond for us to invade. It was really neat last year to go to the VCU fall festival and lurch around to the music!
10. It was also pretty neat when early on in the carytown lurching, someone or another started singing the 'I don't know but I've been told' chant, and the zombies groaned along. Maybe some more of that?
Oh yeah, and of course
11. BRAAAAIIIINSSS

sombody suggested burricades set up ahead of time to break through
maybe even a junker car we could smash up
i def think we should add a downtown stretch to the journey also
the more peeple to walk past the better
most of VCU had very lil spectators after the library
no fun to grown for nobody

We were thinking an after walk gathering of some sort. We could get the clubhouse at our complex and have the people who are taking video and audio do an unedited playback. It would be great to see the footage right away.
Another idea get together with the Byrd Theater and have a day of Zombie Movies for and after party or something. I love the fact that we all get together to do this but it seems like such a hard let down once it is done. I would love to hear peoples stories about what happened to them during the walk.

Ooh, I'd thought of another idea!
Have someone carrying a boombox come walking into the zombies from the opposite direction, just as they're approaching the zombies the person cranks up the boombox and plays Michael Jackson's 'Thriller" and as they walk through the crowd of zombies, the zombies start dancing.

here's an idea someone had. to have zombie attack points. to have a blockade, car, etc with a symbol we know. so we can attack/break.

Had a few fights with zombies, they went pretty well actually. I didn't want to get in trouble 'cause of the shotgun, and I didn't want to steal the show either!
Honestly though, my part wasn't too planned out. Wasn't so sure what to do at times :? This was really to test the water. Maybe next year we can have a small gang of vigilantes or something. Too many would delute the walk imo.
I agree we got a little quieter as the day went on (zombies losing morale? lol?) but it's almost to be expected after so much walking.

I'd think it'd be funny if "Ash" from Evil Dead showed up and started warning people. (In complete chainsaw-shotgun torn up bloody attire.) I dont know how legal that could be though, even if it was a fake chainsaw / shotgun.
Also, I could possibly be a FRESH victim for you guys. Im not quite sure yet if I can get my costume set up quite like I want to. Basicly, I bought this one costume, and if things go to plan Im going to modify it dramatically. (All the gory-ripped open bits are pasted on the "clothing". I want to take them off, and make "harnesses" for them and get them tight on my body, then I can get legit clothes for you zombies to rip open / squirt blood all over.) We'll see if I can get this together and then even get it cleared with Deadmason or someone.

i just wanted to throw in my 2cents about some of the ideas that are being thrown out.
lots of great ideas. lots of opportunity to expand the activities list (what are you reading our minds?)
after discussing informally with past participants we've discovered that zombie attacks are pretty fun, but they could use some refinement in the execution. addressing that scenario is on our agenda.
apart from zombie attacks, coordinating anything else may be too overwhelming. dancing, planting props, zombie hunters. if you feel that you can successfully pull it off, go for it. however, as organizers we don't want to turn it into a bunch of mini-performance pieces. this is a zombie walk. we'd ideally like 100% undead, not 90% undead with living escorts. i got a few "there were some people who didn't look dead. who were those guys?". .. that's another ball of wax which we'll talk about in another topic.
the byrd theater? maybe. ;-p
locations? carytown (of course). downtown is a maybe. there's debate in the camp about the lack of activity down there in the middle of the day on saturdays. vcu - most likely the broad street area. again, save for another thread.

someone should get a large-group-gathering ordinance-type-thing--or whatever the frick they're called-- so we can actually go to a mall, without the henrico/richmond bacon pestering us. though carytown always has great potential each year, it'd be nice to try something bigger and badder. i think carytown's been infected enough already IMO.
