View Full Version : A 2nd 2006 Los Angeles Zombie Walk?

I've heard a few rumors that there's gonna be a 2nd Zombie Walk in L.A. this month. Is there any truth to this? If so, when and where?
I already saw one person talking about doing a Zombie Walk on Venice Beach which would be absolutely hilarious. I can just picture the zombies building sand castles and eating cherry (ie: bloody) snowcones.
I'm game for it if you guys are. Might not be a bad idea anyway for those who got stuck working or couldn't make it for the first one. Whaddaya think?

we are sooo pumped if there is another one this month. maybe we should all think of a decent date for the second zombie walk?
maybe this time we can make better plans for the streeets and whatnot we'd walk through.

Well I definitely think doing it in the same location twice would be overkill (no pun intended) which is why I thought it was a good idea when somebody suggested Venice Beach. You've got the streets with all the shops and performers to walk by and of course the beach itself. Plenty o' fun to be had there.
As for the date, weekends are always the best since most people have time off work. Maybe the 21st or 22nd so people still have at least more than a week to plan for it? I'd suggest starting it earlier this time though so the zombies will be more visible and more people will be out walking around as opposed to being indoors eating food 'n stuff.

i'd say the 21st would be a great idea, just cause its a saturday and more people would be around to witness the many zombies.
what type of early were you thinking? like noon or something? or like early afternoon?
mockery

Sure early afternoon like you said would give people plenty of time to get there and get all zombified. I'll post a link to this discussion thread in the LA_apocalypse journal too so anybody on there is kept informed as well.
Still, a vote would be in ***** for all of this stuff though don't ya think... the when and the where the 2nd walk should be held. So what does everybody think? Speak up fellow zombie walkers!

What about the third street promenade? It is pretty big and there are many shops and performers already there. Plus there are no cars that we need to worry about becoming real undead.

should i create a zombie walk myspace group? i know it seems really generic but myspace is pretty decent at creating large groups. there was ONE orange county zombie walk group but now it says it doesnt exist.
so LA zombie walk group on myspace, eh? i'm willing to promote as much as i can! :)
or a socal zombie walk group is good...

I see no problem with that. Link back to zombiewalk.com and communities.livejournal.com/la_apocalypse though so we can all be in the same loop. I'd be willing to help with future promotions as well. Maybe we can get the ball rolling enough on this phenomena to actually get pretty fliers printed to be handed out in record stores and the like?

Problem with the third street promenade is that it's not nearly as much walking distance for us to cover as there is at Venice Beach. And maybe it's just me, but parking always seemed like more of a hassle around the promenade.

Doesn't sound like a bad idea at all. I'm not a big fan of myspace just because every page I've ever been to seems to have 50 videos embedded in it, but if you're running the community, I'm sure you could control that crap heheh. And yeah, just like theboleyorchid said, keep zombiewalk.com and LA_apocalypse informed with any developments so we're all in the loop. Who'da thunk that the undead could be so organized, eh?

Couldn't hurt to maybe have somebody come up with some flyer designs to post here on the forum for now and then once everybody has settled on a date / time / location - that info can be added onto the flyers, printed out and distributed.

True true. I guess we all need to break out the thomas guides/google maps and take a look at areas around Venice and such. I'm game for any walk around here as long as I have gas and the time.
Speaking of parking, there is a parking structure on Cherokee Ave off of Hollywood Blvd., and it is only $2.00 for 1-2 hours and $2.00 for every hour or half an hour afterward. Beats the hell out of the rest of the places that want $2.00 every 15 minutes with a maximum of $15.00. So if you're on the strip, look for it!

I'm down with Venice Beach. It's definitely some of the most recognizable LA scenery, which I think really helped make the last walk. Sombody in the area want to scout a good route for us?

Yeah the boardwalk is where to do the walk if we're gonna be at Venice Beach. The pier looks like a great place for all of us to meet up at. Good call. What does everybody else think?

also wasn't sure how everyone would want to get back- we could just walk down the board walk and turn around, we could walk through the beach on the sand, or we walk down pacific- what do you think?

I'd like to also propose the date of October 28th. It is far enough in advance that we can coordinate transportation, days off from work, and get our own people together. Plus it isn't too close to the date of the last zombie walk in Los Angeles. Another reason is it won't clash with the Universal Halloween Horror Nights or Knotts Scary Farm or whatever Six Flags calls their Halloween deal. How does this sound?
I'd also like to propose a time of 5:00 PM for the walk to begin with a meeting time of 4:00 PM to get everyone organized (and to let us take pics of eachother and get acquainted). We'll walk for a couple hours like the last walk just going up the boardwalk and then we'll disperse or something we'll figure out later to make a circuit.
Comments, suggestions, questions?

Better idea for the date? Oct. 21 is too soon for me personally and a few other people I've talked to. Should we move it in to the first weekend of November? That way all the fun Halloween stuff will be over with?
Also I'm thinking we circuit back on Rose Ave. then take Main St. down to the round-about and then head back to the pier or stay on Main St. and party it down.

Then how about Sunday the 29th as proposed on la_apocalypse? There's no zombie bible saying it has to be a saturday and there are still plenty if not more people on sunday (no workies for a lot).

Personally, I might not be able to make it if it's on the 29th. I might not be in town.
But from the zombie walk I ran in the past, most people preferred Saturday to Sunday because then they had a day to rest 'n relax (walking and eating brains all day takes a lot out of you) before going back to work on Monday.

Alright, well I'll be out of town the 21st, but I guess I can come back in to town so to speak for the evening. Maybe I'll even convince who I'll be out of town with to come. We'll only be in Torrance. I'd just hate to compete with larger Halloween shindigs and lose people for it. This is why I am proposing the first weekend of November. There's just so much conflict over the when.
And here's the route I'm thinking we should do, whatever the day.

democracies are so complicated ha ha!
2pm 10/21 meeting at the venice beach pier? is it official?
i also could create handouts to pass out to everyone when we get there with the route so no one gets too seperated- and we could even plan some interesting pit stops

Tell ya what, I'll create a few polls for it in a little while so people from the zombiewalk.com forums and la_apocalypse can all vote on the exact day and time they want to do it. As with any zombie walk, the date/time will never be perfect for everybody, but we can at least try to make it work out for as many people as possible.

I say we go down the sand. I want to walk out of the surf real dramatic like. I don't mind getting wet at all, and grease paint seems to hold well in water, for the most part. I really want to drag around some rotten seaweed too. (Maybe even glue barnacles to myself/ helmet.) But personally, I'm not sure whats up for the 21st and it might be cutting it a little close for promotion anyhow.

Hey everyone-
There is a zombie walk in Orange County on October 28th. Its been in the works for quite some time. They are doing it as a fund raiser for an animal shelter so are asking for donations. Maybe everyone who wants to go on the 28th could do that one and we could do Venice another weekend. Here the site for info:

I definitely don't think October/pre-Halloween is the only appropriate time. But I'm all about the upcoming one no matter when it is.

Hey man, this site will not let me post anything, but since you mentioned a zombie walk in LA.
Yes, the rumors are true. I'm attatching a flyer to this message here. This will be the fourth one I've attended. I suppose it's the fourth one anyway.
So, spread it around, and if you can post a topic on this site, please do so. A few of us have been trying to, but are locked out.
