I wanna get one started. I'm thinking a Friday or Saturday night in September. Sunset, Hollywood Blvd, and Third Street Promenade have all been suggested. Thoughts? For updates and discussion on LJ, join http://www.livejournal.com/~la_apocalypse or comment here with your e-mail and I'll add you to an informal mailing list for news and info.

I'd definitely be game for a Zombie Walk in L.A.
I organized the Richmond, VA Zombie Walk last year and just moved out here recently. I wouldn't have time to organize one this year, but if you are having a Zombie Walk here in L.A., I'll almost definitely participate and help spread the word about it.
September or October are fine, but a Saturday or Sunday afternoon would work best since most people wouldn't be working then.

To anybody in Los Angeles (or nearby) they've just posted some details about our first zombie walk:
ARRIGHT KIDS. The elders have spoken and here is the PLAN:
What: L.A. ZombieWalk 2006
When: Saturday, October 7th at 6:00 PM
Where: Starting at Hollywood/Vine, we'll head West down Hollywood, South down Highland, then West down Sunset until our poor undead dogs start barking.
What to wear: Plenty of blood, pale makeup, scars and wounds, funeral suits, scrubs, work or school uniforms if you've got one and can wash it without too much trouble, bridal gowns, clubwear, pajamas - we need zombies from all lurches of life!
HERE A LINK TO A MAP IMAGE OF WHERE WE'LL BE WALKING (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v78/nitroxa/LURCH.jpg)
That's a heck of a lurch but my motto is if it sucks we can leave. I figure afterwards I'll get dinner and drinks on the Strip somewhere, anyone's welcome to come along.
Sound good? Now spread the word!

The word is catching, and I'm bringing at least two other interested parties to do the zombie slump down the designated pathway...

Been lurking this topic for a while now in eager anticipation of the walk. Is everything still a go? My girlfriend and I are stocked up on makeup, blood, and the such and are just awaiting confirmation.
So... yay?

YEAH MAN (http://blogging.la/arc***es/2006/09/brrraaaaaaiiiiiins_zombie_walk.phtml)
I am so stoked, you guys. I had originally planned on doing an internet-headcount around now, but I think I'd rather be surprised.
A couple of things:
Blood.I've got a couple of tubes of blood, probably enough for maybe 5 people to get their faces/hands/wounds wet and hopefully by Saturday I'll have more, but is anyone willing to bring some of their own? Just in case some people don't come in costume, OR in case random pedestrians feel like joining in (it IS an infectious disease). I'm having some trouble finding blood that won't stain clothing, also, so if you've got any recommendations I'd love to hear them. I found these great 1-liter jugs of blood at Spencer's over the weekend, but they'll ruin up all your shit so what's the point.
Guts. Some other handy stuff to wear or bring would be Spirit Gum-style putty for making bite wounds. I'll be wearing some, probably, but I can't guarantee that I'll have some to bring. Also, those latexy severed limbs they sell at costume shops. For gnawing! Other ideas?
Candy! I've just gotten in touch with a guy who unfortunately can't make it to the walk, but he wants to donate a bunch of gummi brains (I'm not entirely sure what form these will take, but whatever) for us to munch on. I'll be at Hollywood and Vine a little early (probably 20-30 minutes) to take care of that kind of stuff, help with costumes, and generally organize us, so come out early if you've got questions, need help, or want to chill and meet everybody before we git to groanin'. OKAY HERE IS THE THING ACTUALLY: I'm not going to be in town until Saturday, and CandyDude is going to be out of town Saturday so obviously there is a Problem. Would anyone like to volunteer to pick up the candy from him sometime this week? He's in Burbank, and if you comment here with your e-mail I'll give you his contact info so you can work out the details together. Thanks!
Life after Death. There are a couple of PERFECTLY thematic events happening that night, well after we'll be finished, so if anybody wants to round out a zombiful day:
The Echo in Echo Park (http://bootiela.com/) has midnight mashup shows once a month, and who happens to be playing Saturday night? Gwenchael Jackfani and the Hollaback Zombies, that's who. It's 21+ and $10 at the door, info's on the website.
The Regent Theater on La Brea and Melrose (http://www.myspace.com/regentmidnight) is having a midnight screening of Zombie on Saturday. That's like, a couple of blocks practically from where we'll be ending up. I'll definitely be going to this one, see you there!
PS: I heard a rumor that the walk is being pimped pretty hard on MySpace; linkspls? I am ignorant and barefoot when it comes to MySpace so I didn't even think about spreading the word there, but that's awesome.

- This isn't a protest or a political rally, so leave signs and slogans at home, unless they're facetious and zombie-themed. Example: "Zombies Are People Too" = Good; "Zombies for Angelides" = Not so much.
- While it's totally cool to be your fucked-up zombie self, please don't maul, paw, or basically do anything that will get you In Trouble to the humans we shamble past. I'm not saying "hands off," necessarily, but no violence or Bad Touches, please.
- Also no destruction of property besides getting a little blood on it.
- Essentially what we're trying for here is not to get the cops called on us too much? Shit happens - in fact, weirder shit than us probably happens in Hollywood on an hourly basis - but we're a big mob of scary bloody people and most of the passersby won't really know what's going on, so let's try and be as friendly as zombies can be.
- In the event that any policemans or other kinds of mans (or womans) do take issue with us, be cool and your incredibly fearless leader ooeeoo will deal with them. They shouldn't have any reason to stop us, but just in case.

So, would it be alright if I filmed you guys? I would like to participate, but driving 3 hours to LA covered in blood probably wouldn't be good for the interior of my car:(

Good point. But still, I have professional camera equipment and semi-professional videographers at my disposal... and i'm trying to make a zombie movie. i think footage of you guys would be great for it.

Well I don't see why anybody would have a problem with it. I say go for it. If you can though, in the ******s of your zombie movie, you should thank all the LA Zombie Walkers and zombiewalk.com.
Also, if possible, share any footage you record from the L.A. Zombie Walk with everybody here on these forums as I'm sure we'd all like to see it!

of course i'll give you guys ******. although there are a lot of people who doubt my ability to actually get this movie done
anyway, i'll upload the footage for you guys if possible. however i was just told today that my videographers have a job they're required to do earlier that day so i'm not sure they can make it, which would mean i would have to film. which would mean it probably wouldn't be that good, haha.

Dude, it'd be awesome if you filmed us. Would we be needing to sign releases or whatever?
I'll be at Hollywood and Vine at 5:30 on Saturday if you want to come early and set up.

uhh.. release forms..? it wouldn't be a bad idea, but i doubt i'll mess with it. i'll consult my team i guess, haha

bad news. there about a 95% chance my camera guys aren't going to be able to make it. i'll try to come out to the walk anyway, but i can't get it filmed. if you guys have another one, though, we'll be there for sure.

Can someone run a whois.com (or however you track down domain registration--I don't know how to do it) on "theyrenotzombies.com"?

According to whois, the domain is registered to:
Blissful Dunce Productions
Leif Gantvoort
<address info snipped>
"Leif Gantvoort," when googled, appears to be an actor.
Blissful Dunce Productions seems to be a production company he has set up
with an another actor who is a fraternity buddy of his.
The domain was registered on September 2nd of this year.
Well, at least it's not some corporate interest.
Can't people ever just have fun & stop promoting themselves for a moment? sigh.

Why wait until next year?! Why not just do more of these? Everone had fun, so I see no reason to stop with just this one little walk until next year. Why not do a zombie beach walk over in venice? Think of the seaweed.

There were roughly 300 zombies that attended. Several times we were split up in to a couple groups or took different streets. But all in all, I'm guessing there were 300.
Also, I'm all for more walks a lot sooner than next year! I say we try organizing one somewhere in Southern California every couple of months, seeing as most of us work or go to school, this is about as often as anyone can get time off.

Dang, I was all dressed up with nowhere to lurch. Stupid traffic got me there a little after 6:30 and I drove along the path but couldn't spot anybody. At least I gave people stuck on the freeway with me something to look at.
Sigh. Next time.

Are there any photos of most of the zombies together? All the pics I've seen only show maybe 10-30 zombies together at most.

Great article; you captured the spirit of the Zombie Walk perfectly. And don't feel disturbed by the people who try desperately to completely ignore the oncoming zombies... when I headed up the Richmond Zombie Walk, I noticed the exact same thing. I just feel sorry for those people. Anybody who can't find amusement in a bunch of zombies clearly has no joy in their lives.

I am way down for not waiting until next year. If there's one next month I'll try and make it, though no guarantees (I live and work in Central California most of the time), and In a few months I'm hoping to start another one up myself if people are into that.

Yeppers, I already started a thread up about it here:

I'm game for it if everybody else it. Seems like a good way to let the people who didn't make it have a chance to participate. Besides, a walk on Venice Beach would be hilarious.
