I don't mean to get all overly serious, but I was thinking about the minor exchange of words at the Village Cafe. They certainly overreacted, but I think sort of understand their misplaced anger. You say somebody accused you of disrespecting the memory of mudered VCU student Taylor Behl, which of course is incorrect and was not remotely in the mind of anyone who participated. But The Village was mentioned a lot in media stories about her disappearance, with camera crews hanging out and reporters mentioning the place often. The news channels sort of made a vauge and indirect suggestion that The Village fostered the "bad apples" that Taylor fell in with.

Now I wasn't a witness to the conversation so I may be talking out of my ass, but I'm guessing some of those people whos lives revolve around that place have some heavy guilty baggage going on. I really wish they could've understood and not reacted so badly, but I think ultimately it's all just an unfortunate happenstance that this tragic case unfolded before Halloween, a holiday in which people would be inclined to dress like zombies and have a ton of fun doing it.

Moving on to more pleasant things, I enjoyed both write-ups greatly, and have to agree with the majority of participants and witnesses alike that this was a tremendous thing that happened in our city!

Hehe don't worry, we have the whole thing on tape! Once we put this thing together and host a Post Zombie Walk party to show everybody the footage, you'll see exactly just how way-off this guy really was. Good times!

As promised, I've finished writing up a rundown of what went down at the Richmond Zombie Walk from start to finish. Thanks again to all of you who participated. And to those of you who couldn't make it, there's always next year.

The 2005 Richmond Virginia Zombie Walk in a nutshell:

My friend Josh also did a great write-up (http://www.zombiewalk.com/richmond05/josh.htm) of the Zombie Walk too. He didn't dress as a zombie, but he was a huge help with the walk the day it took place, especially fielding all the phone calls that were coming in from people asking for directions at the last minute.

Hope you all enjoy both pieces. Lemme know what ya think!
Wow!! Your walk looks amazing! ANd great pix!!! Congratulations on your success!!

That zombie walk was seriously the best way to kill a saturday, like, ever. Not since the big dorm fire of last year have i had such a day filled with just incredible instances of complete randomness..and being out of character for one day ruled, where i got to be someone (something?0 i'm not, too. i wish my fleshwound would've stayed on longer, but hey, it was hot...but there were some incredible looking zombies..(i'd say for taking about 20 mins to apply makeup, i didnt do a bad job myself)...and walking around carytown and scaring the crap out of the people at can can was awesome. GUy at the village was amazing, if he can read this, i salute you for completing what was a perfect afternoon...anyway, MAJOR KUDOS for putting this together, and i can't wait to see the footage at the after-party. My suggestion for the next walk is we try and see if we can do it during the week when school is in session that way more people will enjoy...

oh yeah, and see everyone at the afterparty, yes??

I think I need to institute a high-level COMMAND that there be a zombiewalk next year. Because I really am in desperate need of being a zombie-carrot with zombie-cohorts otherwise I might have to !!TRAGEDY!! sit in my room and be bored (tears, TEARS!)

If there's a mailing list for it, I want to hop on that boat and dance the night away!
