I don't mean to get all overly serious, but I was thinking about the minor exchange of words at the Village Cafe. They certainly overreacted, but I think sort of understand their misplaced anger. You say somebody accused you of disrespecting the memory of mudered VCU student Taylor Behl, which of course is incorrect and was not remotely in the mind of anyone who participated. But The Village was mentioned a lot in media stories about her disappearance, with camera crews hanging out and reporters mentioning the place often. The news channels sort of made a vauge and indirect suggestion that The Village fostered the "bad apples" that Taylor fell in with.
Now I wasn't a witness to the conversation so I may be talking out of my ass, but I'm guessing some of those people whos lives revolve around that place have some heavy guilty baggage going on. I really wish they could've understood and not reacted so badly, but I think ultimately it's all just an unfortunate happenstance that this tragic case unfolded before Halloween, a holiday in which people would be inclined to dress like zombies and have a ton of fun doing it.
Moving on to more pleasant things, I enjoyed both write-ups greatly, and have to agree with the majority of participants and witnesses alike that this was a tremendous thing that happened in our city!
