On Sunday, October 25th, we will be hosting a rally and concert in Courthouse Square, Santa Rosa, CA, to bring attention to the need for healthcare reform in America. And we’re inviting everyone to dress up as zombies.

Yep, brain eating zombies. Seriously. It'll be fun.

Noon to 1pm - Convene at Courthouse Square for protest and dance party along Mendocino Avenue. People are encouraged to bring funny and thought-provoking protest signs, like "Being Undead is a Pre-Existing Condition". Groan and be brain-craving at the passing traffic.

1pm - March/shamble/horde around a circuit of downtown (on sidewalks, following traffic laws, please), either just groaning or shouting fun slogans, and back to Courthouse Square. We're hoping to be accompanied by an alternative marching band.

1:30ish to 5:30ish - Concert and Rally in Courthouse Square. 4 to 5 bands (TBA) with comic/informative skits from a local comedy troupe (with help from activists) and dancing between.

---

Basically, we want it to be a good time, and inject some comedy and excitement into this often dour subject, hopefully winning a few converts to our cause, and getting some media attention for the outlandishness of our protest.

But we are by no means downplaying how important this issue is. On the contrary - we're not protesting AGAINST something, we're rallying FOR Healthcare Reform, and we want it to be a celebration - "as if the revolution has already happened". We are NOT the Town Hall shouters -- so wouldn't you rather be on OUR side? We're a lot more fun and a lot less irrationally angry.

We encourage everyone to bring signs with funny, and thought provoking slogans – either zombie-related or not – act ridiculously, and dance on the sidewalks.

We plan that the skits present good, solid information about the healthcare debate, but in a way that is funny and irreverent – edutainment if you will – which we hope will get our message across some of the barriers of indifference and ignorance.

People who have other ideas, or who want to help in any way, should contact me at michael@sectionm.com or at my Facebook page. We would like as much community and activist participation as we can get.
