Last October a deadly outbreak spread across Asbury Park, NJ. An unexplained toxin was released into the atmosphere which resulted in massive casualties and subsequent reanimation of hundreds of corpses. No one was spared from this uncontrollable virus. An attempt to quarantine the city has failed.
The infection is spreading once more. City officials predict that, if not contained, the death toll will reach critical mass on May 2nd, 2009. Will you be there to survive it? Keep checking www.asburyparkzombiewalk.com for details as we announce times, base camp location and special events!

Here is the Schedule for the May 2nd Zombie Walk - Base Camp location will be revealed this weekend - head to www.asburyparkzombiewalk.com for all the info:
2:00PM
Report to the Base Camp (Location to Be Announced Soon!)
Base Camp will be open Saturday from 2:00pm until 6:00pm. When you arrive, please drop by the check-in booth and get a wristband! This is the only way we'll get a head count (and who knows when we'll break a record!) You'll also be able to pick up a Zombie Walk Route Map, which will list all the shops and restaurants in town offering special ********s to Zombies.
After checking in, you'll move into the costume and make-up area. Tables will be set up with basic cream and grease paint make-up, mirrors, brushes, sponges, towels and stage blood. You are more than welcome to bring your own supplies and go as crazy as you want, but please note: space is tight and supplies are limited, so we encourage everyone to arrive as prepared as possible. For those staging more special effects, you may wish to arrive extra early or assemble your costume at home before arriving at Base Camp.
For those who wish to take their look up a notch, there will also be a team of highly skilled, professional make-up artists on hand giving unique zombie makeovers using professional grade makeup and techniques. Makeovers will be given on a first come first served basis, and with a donation of $10 (to cover the hard work and costs involved with creating these incredible effects).
5:00PM
Last Call For Zombie Makeup
Professional Zombie Makeovers are available right up until 5:00. All makeup should be finished no later than 5:00PM to give the artists time to clean their workstations and put away their equipment (so that they TOO can join the Zombie Walk!)
5:30PM
Zombie Basic Training
All zombies will assemble by the designated exit. The Zombie Walk Rules will be explained and a quick Zombie Basic Training will help everyone get into character.
6:00PM
Zombie Walk Begins!
At precisely 6:00pm, the doors will open and the dead will rise up from the earth! Zombies will pour out onto the streets, lurching and shambling across town. Spread out and infect the city!
8:00PM
Zombie Karaoke and More!
After finishing the Zombie Walk Route, the walk is officially over, but the fun continues! A variety of Zombie-themed events, music and parties are being planned all over town, for Zombies of all ages! Details will be coming in the following week, so stay tuned. And if you didn't get your fill of brains during the walk, it's the perfect time to grab dinner at one of the many great restaurants offering specials to Zombies. All of the new shops along Cookman Avenue will be open to Zombies, many with Zombie-only ********s, so keep your wristband handy! There will also be a free Trolley service running between the Boardwalk to Cookman Avenue if your Zombie legs start to feel dead tired.
Official Zombie Walk After Party
The Official Zombie Walk After Party will be announced soon! Keep your eyes peeled for more information!
Parking and Transportation
Parking is available (but limited) along Lake Avenue, Cookman Avenue and Mattison Avenue. The Parking Garage on Bangs Avenue will be completely free all night. Additionally, the NJTransit train station is conveniently located within walking distance across from Cookman Avenue on Main Street.

The Outbreak Will Begin At The Historic Carousel House
YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED...
What is a Zombie Walk?
In short, it's a flash mob. We dress up as zombies and meet together in a public place, then walk around and act like zombies.
Why does one have a Zombie Walk?
Because, it's a lot of fun to be a zombie! And it's even more fun to watch people's reactions when hundreds of undead zombies come lurching down the street unexpectedly.
How much does it cost to participate in the Zombie Walk?
Nada. Nothing. Zero. Zilch. The Zombie Walk is free to all.
Is there an age limit?
Nope! The Zombie Walk is open to zombies of all ages, as well as pets too! We do ask that children (and pets) be accompanied by an adult at all times.
When is the Zombie Walk?
Saturday, May 2nd.
Where is the Zombie Walk?
The Asbury Park Zombie Walk is located in Asbury Park of course! We're Exit 102 off the Garden State Parkway. For Google Maps, type in 700 Ocean Avenue, Asbury Park, NJ.
Where do we meet?
We have designated the historic Carousel House on the Asbury Park Boardwalk as the Official Zombie Base Camp. All zombies should meet at the Carousel House the day of the walk, Saturday May 2nd, 2009. There is ample parking outside and the NJTransit train station is within walking distance.
What time does it start?
Zombie Base Camp will open from 2:00pm until 6:00 on Saturday afternoon. We encourage everyone to come by and check in, so we can get an official "body count". We'll also give you a bracelet so you can get exclusive zombie-only deals in town. The Zombie Walk will leave from Base Camp at precisely 6:00pm and end around 7:30pm.
What happens if I arrive late?
No problem. When you get in, simply join the walk, where ever it may be lurching in progress. If you missed checking in and need to get a bracelet, you can do so at any time at Paranormal Books & Curiosities on Cookman Avenue.
What happens if it rains that day?
The Asbury Park Zombies will walk rain or shine. Bring your umbrella or a poncho, or be a soggy swamp zombie!

Do I have to do my own costume and makeup?
We encourage EVERYONE to arrive in costume and make-up. The Carousel House has limited space, so it's best to get ready beforehand at home. Check out the RESOURCES page of our website to get make-up tutorials, costume tips and links to local costume shops. If you still need help, there will be limited make-up supplies on hand the day of the walk. Face creams, grease paints and stage blood will be free on a first come, first grab basis. You're welcome to bring your own supplies too. In addition, we will have around a dozen professional make-up artists set up to give movie-grade zombie make-overs. These artists will give make-overs in exchange for a $10 donation to cover the cost of their supplies and in appreciation for their hard work. Due to time constraints, make-overs will be on a first come, first served basis from 2:00pm until 5:00pm.
What do we do after the walk?
There will be a variety of special events around Downtown Asbury Park, including Zombie Karaoke, Zombie Costume Contest, Jello Brain Eating Contest, Special Film Screenings and an Official Zombie Prom After Party. In addition, most of the shops and restaurants will be offering exclusive ********s and specials to zombies all night long. More details to come.
What if I have more questions?
We'd be glad to answer them. Shoot us an email at zombiesbiting@me.com and we'll get right back to you!

The Second Asbury Park Zombie Walk was incredible and we want to give you all a rotting, decomposing round of applause for coming out to join us this Saturday! The plague was virtually unstoppable, with body counts approaching 425+ zombies! Because of your enthusiasm and support, the Zombie Walk has grown even larger than last year. With numbers this large and fans this dedicated, the outbreak is set to consume the entire state of New Jersey.
So let's hear it for the hard working people who made it happen!
First up, we want to thank Madison Marquette for generously donating the Carousel House for Zombie Base Camp! It was the absolute perfect setting for staging our massive outbreak!
Next up, we want to thank our super-talented army of Make-up Artists, who transformed a few hundred citizens into a realistic legion of the undead. Thank you Alicia Adamczak, Diane Camhi, Jeanne Casale, Juan De Jesus, Jessica DuPaul, Michele Doughty, Heather Horror, Kristen Meehan, Fran Penzimer, Lisa Penzimer, Peter Sathmary and Kathy Vollo!
And also deserving a huge, bloody high-five are B Unique Clothing, who hosted our Zombie Costume Contest,Paranormal Books & Curiosities, who hosted Zombie Karaoke, and Munch, who hosted the Jello Brain Eating Competition! These guys put some serious blood, sweat and brains into creating three fantastic after-walk events for all the zombies, so give them some zombie love!
And let's not forget all of the Restaurants and Shops of Asbury Park, who served up dinners all night long and gave generous ********s to the hordes of undead shoppers and patrons. Your hard work, support and efforts made Zombie Walk a fun-filled festival and really inspired a true sense of community. Thank you America’s Cup Coffee House, Asbury Lanes, Crust and Crumble Gourmet Pizzeria, Hold Fast Clothing & Records, Il Pavone Gelateria & Café, Mike’s Beach House, Organic Style, Plan B Restaurant, ReVision Theatre, The Dawg Joint, The Inkwell, The Showroom and Twisted Tree Cafe.
Thanks to everyone who took photographs and video of the walk, please send us your pictures by uploading them through our websitehere!
A surprise thank you to Cake Boss Buddy Valastro for creating the centerpiece of our afterparty! The larger than life zombie cake from Carlo's City Hall Bake Shop was truly unbelievable. Watching as hungry zombies ripped the cake apart was the highlight of our evening. Hopefully you didn't get too messy!
And lastly, we must give great praise to Mattison Park, hosts of our "Prom Night of the Living Dead". Our after-party would not have been the same without your unwavering support and enduring patience (especially after the unbelievable cake mess!).
We could not have put this together without all the wonderful people, volunteers, community support, excitement and enthusiasm that we received from all of you. YOU made this event a success and we salute you!

On a more personal note...
The Asbury Park Zombie Walk was created by two people who love zombies and who wanted to share that love with everyone else in a fun community-like atmosphere. The nature of the Zombie Walk is such that it draws fans and enthusiasts from all over and the crowds can get pretty big. Because of the crowds, we put certain rules in place. We do this so that everyone can have a good time and so that the city of Asbury Park will allow us to take over the town for a day.
SO... It is a true disappointment when someone breaks those rules, and we feel deeply offended by those who sought to disrespect US and the CITY by breaking them. Not only does it hurt our feelings, but it also shows a complete lack of respect to the town, who has graciously allowed this event to happen in the first place.
Asbury Park does not have to allow the Zombie Walk to happen, but they do so out of a mutual sense of respect between us zombies and the city. When that respect is broken, they can withdraw their support and BAN future Zombie Walks from ever happening. We don't want that to happen. We want to foster a good relationship with the city.
At the beginning, we asked everyone to refrain from touching any non-zombie walkers and to be mindful of your actions (and make-up) so that you do not cause damage to, destroy or vandalize anything or anyone. During the walk, we received complaints of a group of individuals who destroyed plants, vandalized buildings and soaked spectators with fake blood. This is a display of total disrespect and will not be tolerated. The funds we raised on Saturday to promote October's walk now must be redirected towards repairing the damage done and we hope that the city will not prevent the event from happening again. The old saying, "a few bad apples will spoil the bunch" is very true in this case.
If we are allowed to organize another walk later this year, we ask that YOU, as respectful zombie walkers, STEP UP to your fellow walkers and demand for them to stop abusing the town or spectators. We'd like to thank those who DID come forth and report the damage. Those individuals have been identified and are henceforth BANNED from ALL future Zombie Walks in Asbury Park, or any other events planned by the organizers. It breaks our hearts to have to do this, but we really love the Zombie Walk (just like you) and want to make sure we can always have one.
Thank you all again, and please please please remember to show zombie love to one another, to the city of Asbury Park and to those who came out to watch this truly memorable event.
With love,
Jason and Christina Meehan
