Welcome to the First Annual Asbury Park Zombie Walk! We're organizing a massive Zombie Walk for downtown this October. Asbury Park is a city made of pure Rock N' Roll history on the New Jersey shore. What better city to host an invasion of undead zombies?! The walk is on Saturday, October 4th. 3:00PM
Report to the Base Camp

Zombie Base Camp will be officially set up in the basement of the VFW Building on the corner of Main Street and Lake Avenue in downtown Asbury Park. Base Camp will be open from 3:00pm until 5:00pm when the walk begins. You will see signs directing you to the entrance. There is limited street parking around the building but also free parking in the Bangs Avenue Parking Garage. For those arriving by train, the NJTransit train station is directly across the street. The Zombie Walk will take place regardless of the weather, so come prepared to walk, rain or shine.

When you arrive, you'll wanna first swing by the check in booth. We'll give you a Zombie Walk Route Map, a copy of Zombie Rules & Etiquette and a Zombie Wristband. You'll need the Wristband to get into the free After Party and concert at Asbury Lanes. The Wristband will also get you sweet ********s at many of the great restaurants and shops.

After checking in, you'll move into the costume and make-up area. Tables will be set up with basic cream and grease paint make-up, mirrors, brushes, sponges, towels and stage blood. You are more than welcome to bring your own supplies and go as crazy as you want. Tips on creating zombie make-up and costumes are posted here in the blogs. There will also be a team of professional make-up artists that will be demonstrating some basic techniques, as well as giving complete zombie makeovers. Makeovers will be given on a first come, first served basis and will be free of charge (although tipping your make-up artist for their hard work would be greatly appreciated). For those staging more special effects, you may wish to arrive extra early or assemble your costume at home before arriving at Base Camp.

4:30PM
Zombie Basic Training

All make-up and costumes will be completed. The Zombie Rules & Etiquette will be thoroughly explained, the Zombie Walk Route detailed and a quick Zombie Basic Training will help everyone get into character. Right before heading out, we will gather for one big group photo to commemorate the First Annual Zombie Walk in Asbury Park!

5:00PM
Zombie Walk Begins!

The doors will open and the dead will walk the earth! Zombies will pour out of the VFW basement and up on to Main Street. We'll turn and lurch down Cookman Avenue, heading towards the Carousel House. From there, we'll turn and head out onto the Boardwalk. At the end, we'll flow through the Convention Hall and end on the other side. This is the main route, but there will be an expanded route on the map which will allow zombies to meander down side streets and alleyways for maximum infiltration.

7:00PM
Zombie Karaoke and More!

From this point, Zombies may choose to loop around Ocean Avenue and back on to Cookman Avenue for more Zombie fun! Paranormal Books & Curiosities will be hosting a Zombie Karaoke Contest with fabulous prizes for the winners! And if you didn't get your fill of brains, you might want to grab dinner at one of the many great restaurants offering ********s to all Zombie Walk participants. There will also be a free Trolley service running between the Boardwalk to Cookman Avenue if your Zombie legs start to feel dead tired.

8:00PM
Official Zombie Walk After Party

Asbury Lanes will open it's doors for the official Zombie Walk After Party. Admission is totally free for all Zombies (ages 18 and up). Just remember to show your wristband at the door (and I.D. if you're over 21 and plan to have a drink). There will be a rockin' concert line-up starting at 9:00pm featuring three awesome bands: The Von Ghouls, The Coffin Daggers and Shaw 'Nuff. Head over to the bar for a round of drinks, pick up some tasty treats at Snack World Inferno and bowl the night away at one of the classic bowling lanes.

THANK YOU ZOMBIES!

Thank you from the bottom of our undead (and not beating) hearts to EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU who participated in the First Asbury Park Zombie Walk!! The infection that spread across the city consumed more than 400 people! Yes, there were FOUR HUNDRED Zombies decimating the city last night in one of the most incredible events this town has ever seen! Through all your enthusiasm and support spreading the word about the walk, our first event went 100x better than we could have imagined! We're already planning for 2009!
