hello to all,

i'm trying to orginize a zombie walk or at least a linger at one of the haunted houses, namely the one called "the devil's den" here in winchester, virginia. this is if they will give the ok. if not it will still be on only in the downtown area's open air mall. the date i'm planning on having it is october 27th. further details to follow. ie meeting point and start time. if any are interested let me know.

My name is John and I am the co-owner of "The Devils Den" here in Winchester Virginia. We would love to have a zombie walk start at our event. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help promote......

update number one:

for winchester, virginia you need a "special events" permit and a permit to do anything in the open air mall itself. fill out the nessasary paperwork on thursday and turned it in on friday see update 2 for results,

update numba 2:

good news good news the city of winchester has approved, yes i did say approved, and gave the zombie walk a thumbs up for the 27th. so even if we have to leanger near the open air mall its on. if not i will also contact john from "the devil's den" so see ablut doing it there next year if things go well this year at the mall. we do not wish to steal their thunder at all.

sorry it took so long to post an aftermath post but here it is.

out of maybe 15 people that were going to show (including myself) only about 8 did.

as a first year walk with roughly a week and a half notice i'd call it a mild success if not a compleate success. everything went off without a hitch. we did carry the permits with us just incase we were stoped, wich we werent. alot of those who saw us shuffling along that were in the 40 and up crowd eiher ignored us or gave us the usual northan virginian, upper class, "dear gawd who gave them permition to do that look" while the 17 to 35ish mostly white crowd seamed to get a kick out of us doing this and not only gave us chears but seamed to love to see this happening. the majority of the african americans we shuffeled past kept asking "what the f$%^ is wrong with ya'll?"

the best moment was when someone was walking her dog past us it (the dog) kept barking at us until it and its owner was out of sight. the funniest moment was was when one of the group broke charactor said "ohh look a quater" bent down, picked it up. then got imedetly back into charactor like nothing happened. which in turn caused the whole group to break out into laughter.

the only downside was we could of used a non costumed runner who could have ran form one end of our route to the other stating "their comming, it's for real."

pictures to be posted soon.
and here is to next year.
