Hi everyone,
I attended last year's walk and was so surprised at such a success it was. Ever since the walk, people have come up to me asking what the cause was for. I immediately said brains but the more I thought about it, the idea of collecting money from everyone towards a good cause made a lot of sense.
The one idea that I keep thinking about is the Virginia Blood Services since well... blood is related to zombies.
If we could collect about $5 from each person, we'd have a hefty amount to donate towards something.
Just an idea.
What do you think?

thats a good idea
but i think we should collect for cancer
i just lost a friend to cancer over the weekend
it seems like cancer while having been around for a while is getting alot worse in the last couple years
its claiming many lives as of late and especially over the course of its timespan
i say money towards cancer research is the way to go
it may not be very zombie
but i think if the dead were gonna walk for sumpthin
this would be as good as anything
maybe we can do it like one of those walkathons where peeple sponcer you to walk as a zombie

I'm up for any kind of cause. The cancer research is close to home with me as well, so I think we should push towards that one.
I'll see if I can gather more information on donations/events.
We can accept the money the pre-meeting place.

mr. lamesauce,
if you would like to be pointman for this effort, we will do what we can to get this message out.
keep us posted on which cause you decide and we'll make it happen.
great idea!

You can call me Matt. haha.
I'm going with the American Cancer Society. I've already spoken with a rep over there and should be receiving some pamphlets, brochures and more info on the society and where the donations will be going.
I think an easily acquired amount of $5 would be enough to have a decent amount to donate to the society.
Obviously this is last minute so making this mandatory would make no sense. I think we'd still get a good amount from everyone and have something to show RVA other than brains and the undead.
Can't wait to see who comes out this year! Should be another grand time of shuffling and moaning.
Thanks,
Matt Cheadle

hey matt,
is there a way to get some american cancer society logos (jpegs preferably) that we can use on our promotional materials?
can we legally use it?
can we officially say that it is the 2007 Richmond Zombie Walk benefitting the American Cancer Society?
thanks again for your help

I've been speaking with Jennifer from the American Cancer Society in Glen Allen. She's going to stop by here (my work) to give me banners, flyers, brochures and anything else she can think of to aid our benefitting walk.
She's emailing me the official logos for us to use. We can use them anywhere we'd like.
They are so excited for this event and I think this will attract more zombies this year.
Once I get the logos I'll post them up here.
Thanks everyone!

If you know anyone joining the walk this year, please remind them it's benefitting the American Cancer Society.
I think a voluntary donation of $5 or more would be perfect.
Also, ask anyone you know even if they're not a part of the walk to donate as much as they can to such a great cause/event.
Thank you all so much.
