hey, i usually organize the zombie walks in ottawa
(by organize i mean, pick a date, design a poster, run a myspace page, remind people incessantly about the zombie walk, postering and other general advertising)

in ***** to cut down on the chances of shitty weather, i wanted to hold the zombie walk a week earlier than usual, which would mean it would be on Sunday the 14th of October. (it's usually on the 3rd sunday of october)

the last 2 years have been ridiculously cold and rainy!!! this has resulted in a plethora of people deciding not to come, and obviously the zombie walk is better with as many people as possible.
so, by holding the zombie walk a week earlier than usual, i know i will be cutting down on the chances of shitty weather. (i know there could still be a hurricane or a flood or something, but it's worth a try  )
the only downside to this, is that it means the walk is 1 week further away from halloween which would make it not as relevant... or something...

ANYWAYS.

im working on a poster right now, if you want me to send you the file via email when i am finished, or better yet make photocopies of the poster and give them to you, i would LOVE some help flyering :D
(i think word-of-mouth is very important on getting people out as well / just as effective as potersing so when zombie-walk-time comes around, tell all your friends!!!!!!!!!)

thats fine by me , I know it will make sense to enough people about the weather . I've always gotten the feeling that the walk happening close to halloween is good along the creepy theme but not entirely neccessary . most of the people would be thrilled to dress up and rampage any time of the year . halloween just softens the blow :) I'm totally up for helping with postering as are others I know . I think an online poster/myspace/word of mouth campaign would also do tons (that seems to be how most have found out in the past ) . I'm stoked t try and make this the biggest walk yet . so , the 14th it is  . I'm going to let people know . I know about a dozen people at least that are waiting with baited breath to find out the date . this is gonna kick boat loads of a$$!!!!!!!!!!

some of my friends and i are thinking about organizing a zombie walk through downtown Ottawa on Saturday October 29th in the afternoon as a lead up to the plethora of Halloween parties that will be taking place that weekend
I wanted to find out if there is a possibility of integrating our efforts...have you solidified any of the details? is the date and time set?

Personally I rather like the earlier date. It stands out more. While still being in the month of Halloween, it can catch people off guard.
Whereas with being on pretty much the same weekend as Halloween, to me, doesn't have nearly as much impact.

the date is now official:
Sunday OCTOBER 14th and it will start at 3pm.
the meeting place is the ENTRANCE of the beechwood cemetery. (Please do not enter the cemetery- even though i know people will no matter what - the people who work at the cemetery were not too pleased about the crowd of weird zombies last year)

if you have any questions, check out www.myspace.com/ottawazombiewalk
or email me at allie.nation@gmail.com

the myspace page has makeup tips and also explains how to make the walk awesome. i'm sure people on this board know all that stuff already though.

i have created posters and myself and others will be postering in a week or so!

about the zombiewalk on the 29th - you can make a second zombie walk if you want! go for it.

I'm going to put some posters up in the area where I work/live ... I'm near college square, so hopefully some of the students will take an interest.

I'm gonna aim for the transit stations and bigger bus stops . I figure that'll get a few people . and some of the centretown/chinatown area .

sounds awesome - i will also be doing the centretown area.... probably up and down bank st. and then some downtown around the rideau centre, york st. and dalhousie a little bit....

if we overlap thats totally fine - i know these postering areas get covered up pretty quickly so it'll be good to have 2 people on the job.

I was gonna do more between bank and bronson area especially somerset and gladstone , so we wouldn't be overlapping except close to bank .

I just *****ed 3 vials of FX blood gel (much more sticky and coagulated-looking than stage blood).

It so crazy to see how many people there are registered on here, MySpace and Facebook. I'm sure there will be hundreds of zombies this year. I just have to remember my camera!

i have had 6 people ask to interview me for the zombie walk. (most are for school projects hehe)
i really hate / suck at interviews - it doesnt help that i have a speech problem - anyways....
if anyone wants to be interviewed - let me know!!!

SEE YOU ON SUNDAY!!!!!
